You can avoid unnecessary conflict without allowing someone to take advantage of you.
And you can set a firm boundary without becoming cruel.
Sometimes, all it takes is one clear “no.”
And in my case, that little word was enough to finally make my neighbor understand that my home—and everything connected to it—was not hers to use whenever she pleased.
