“Put everything on this.”
With the necklace, private suite, premium service, wine, and other charges, the total came to $311,000.
Three minutes later, the waiter returned.
His expression was tense.
“Sir. I’m sorry. The card was declined.”
Brandon frowned.
“Run it again.”
“We did, sir.”
“Use the backup.”
“Those were declined as well, sir.”
Savannah stopped smiling.
Brandon grabbed the bill.
His face turned white.
Then the club manager entered.
His name was Marcus Ellison.
He’d known me for years.
And he was carrying a payment terminal and a copy of the corporate access notice.
“Mr. Hayes,” Marcus said calmly, “the membership you’re using belongs to Rossi Design Group.”
Brandon stared at him.
“We received a notice from the member this afternoon removing you as an authorized guest, effective immediately.”
Savannah glanced at Brandon.
“What does that mean?”
Marcus continued.
“I can’t let the corporate charges stand. And I have to ask, because our policy requires it: how did you intend to pay for a Rossi Design Group purchase, when you are no longer with Rossi Design Group, or with Ms. Rossi?”
