My cheek still throbbed.
The swelling around my mouth made speaking uncomfortable.
I had already been examined at the hospital.
Photographs had been taken.
My ribs were bruised but not broken.
Thirty blows.
No fractures.
Apparently Trevor had inherited my strong bones if nothing else.
“What did you discuss?”
“Quarterly cash reserves.”
The detective and Daniel Pierce, my attorney, exchanged glances.
I hated that.
“Say it.”
Daniel leaned forward.
“Gloria, Cedarline Capital had approximately nine-point-four million dollars in liquid reserve accounts yesterday morning.”
“I know.”
“Six million was transferred just after two yesterday afternoon.”
My blood went cold.
“Yesterday?”
“Yes.”
While I was driving home from my son’s birthday dinner with blood drying on my mouth.
I stared at Daniel.
“How?”
“The transaction was initiated using authority that appears to come from you and Martin jointly.”
“I didn’t authorize anything.”
“We know.”
“Where did it go?”
Daniel slid a page toward me.
