“Yes.”

“Mine.”

“For the moment.”

A few guests laughed nervously.

Cordelia touched the pendant.

“Get her out.”

I looked at the necklace.

“That suits you.”

Her fingers curled around it.

Flynn stepped closer.

“If this is about belongings, contact my attorney.”

“It isn’t.”

“Then why are you here?”

Phoebe handed him an envelope.

“To congratulate you,” I said.

Flynn stared at the papers.

“What is this?”

“Notice of covenant enforcement.”

His eyes moved across the page.

His color changed.

Cordelia snatched it.

“What nonsense is this?”

Phoebe spoke calmly.

“Mr.

Vale’s development activity triggered successor obligations attached to the estate.”

Cordelia laughed.

“You can’t attach secret debts to property.”

“They weren’t secret.”

Phoebe looked at Flynn.

“He initialed every page.”

Flynn’s eyes snapped toward me.

“You set me up.”

I almost smiled.

“You brought a lawyer into my hospital room.”

He said nothing.

“You threatened my medical coverage while I was waiting for surgery.”
