“How did you know Harper was exactly like that?”
He winced.
“She gave me her login,” he said. “For her patient portal. She wanted me to understand what her doctors were saying. So I read her charts. All of them.”
Graham closed his eyes.
“I emailed the trial,” Wyatt said. “But they don’t answer kids. I tried. They sent back a thing that said parents or doctors only. So I made an email for Mr. Quinn. And I wrote to them like I was him.”
“For how long?”
“Since March.”
“Wyatt—”
“They asked for records. I sent them. From the portal. They asked questions. Harper helped me answer them.” He was crying now. Not loud. Just tears running down his face while he talked. “Last week, the coordinator said she looked eligible. She said there was a slot opening in July. She said the trial pays for the treatment. But not the travel. Or the hotel. Or anything. You have to stay in Philadelphia for at least three months.”
